hi i was clearing some scrub and found two very large centipedes in the soil they was about 6" in lenth and about 1/2" thick light brown in color i did let them go but was wondering about them are they safe cheers 8O

Did it have horizontal darker stripes? If so, it's called scolopendra cingulata. They can give you a nasty bite which can need medical attention. They are quite aggresive. Steer well clear. For more information google scolopendra cingulata.

yes had the dark stripes and sounds like you are saying... wow glad i let it go are they good for the garden

they are good for nothing!! if we find any we usually cut them in half with secateurs or a spade. The red tin One Year insecticide spray usually kills them but chopping them is best. They are really not nice and especically if you have animals or children, best get rid!
