I don't think it's what so much expats are willing to give up, as it seems that Fiestas are the first thing that are going to be hit according to reports eminating from the media and indeed in my eyes, this is somthing that should have been looked at years ago here in Spain.

We are all ready paying more for our Electric and Gas and Suma, so can't see that been effected that much more, also I see that there is talk about people been charged a minimal fee when they visit their doctor, ie been talked about 2 / 3 euros paid at the surgery per visit. I would think those that are paying into the system here for health coverage won't be too happy with that, as they are all ready paying for their health coverage.

I think that its odds on that some things will go up again and indeed more cuts will be made.

My personal feeling is that Spain as a country would fair a lot better if Notaries were pulled into line, it seems to me that these people have a licence to print money and they all seem to have different charges for doing the same thing. In Italy they also have notaries, but their prices are gudied and pre set for different undertakings and indeed they are a lot cheaper and easier to see than here in Spain. My local Notary who has three offices in three different towns has just purchased himself a new Aston Martin, this is after he'd only had his new Porsche 3 years "shame for some" ey.

With the winter temp here reaching nearly 30% surely it is time the UK gov,t stopped paying us 200 pound a year as a heating allowance, can´t believe it would make any difference to our lifestyle.

Time to make a stand then Morley, in the UK there has been a campaign for individuals who don´t need the 200 pounds to give it to others who need it more....I´m sure your local Caritas will be happy to take it off your hands.

Morley, I tend to agree with you in a way about the 200 pound, but at the same time, if they are to stop giving it to those whom paid in to the system for most of their lives, then suerly those that are new imigrants to the Uk should also have anything that they recive stopped? just think if this was implemented how much better off the system would also be in the Uk. And indeed, this would most possibly cut the entries into the Uk by 40/60% after all, if you can't get a penny here in Spain if unemployed unless you have worked for a company or been self employed, and even if self employed, and you find yourself out of work, you still can not claim anything.

Steve, the point is not about individuals giving their 200 pound away, it is that it is not paid in the first place thereby saving the Gov,t a few million in these times of crisis. Unfortunately in the news today there is an instance of 1,600 pound a week being paid as housing benefit!!! Unbelievable!!
